First full day

Well, friends, 24+ hours of the slow carb diet are now in the books. Yesterday (which was a Monday) was tough. It was a tough place to start. I knew I had an especially busy day at the office, so I packed two Slim Fast Advanced Formula shakes. I have mixed reviews on Slim Fast. On one hand, I obviously believe they're far inferior to eating actual food but on the other hand, being able to throw them in my bag, take them to the office and refrigerate them there for my meals is easy on me and my wallet. I'm also not tempted to run down the street and get a burger for lunch. I popped one of those shakes for lunch around noon, which was my first "food" of the day. I was starving by the time I downed it. I've never, ever been a breakfast guy. That will be one of the hardest things for me to adjust to. Those shakes, by the way, contain about 180 calories, 20 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar. This is true, at least, for the advanced formula shakes. I believe ...

Introduction

Inspired by some posts I've seen online about "slow-carb" dieting, I decided to get back into the diet again after some time away. I also thought that blogging would help me stay the course and also help anyone else new to the diet or those searching for inspiration during the dog days of a weight loss plan. First, let's start with some background about my weight now, my goals and why I know a little bit about weight loss. It's quite the roller coaster, so here we go. Also, one quick disclaimer: Never will I pretend to be a weight loss expert. I'm not a physician or a dietitian. I've also never dropped 100s of pounds.
